Web Layout

The web site that I’m going to be making on Dream Weaver is going to be a bout things that I like to do and a couple hobbies of mine. The hobbies of mine are going to be explained about what you do, what they are about, why I like them, and how I got exposed to them. The others will be about what I like to do, a couple will have some example that I like, a couple facts, why I still choose to do them, and how I got exposed to them. Below is the layout that I’m going to be having my website formatted.

“It is crazy to build a website without a plan.  Those people who just ‘go for it’ are silly!” Hahahahaha. This quote is has a weird funny sense of humor but this quote is kind of true. I originally was going to do just that but then I thought about it again. If I went and started my website without the slightest clue about how I’m going to format and do this, I would probably mess up big time on my website. Having a plan is always good and people who go and build a website without a plan are pretty awesome. They are awesome because they see what they want and go for it. They can execute what they want to do so I don’t think it is ‘silly’ because they don’t really need a plan. So people who can ‘go for it’ aren’t ‘silly,’ they are amazing to just ‘go for it.’

Setting

The setting section is a place where you can change your website functionality. The setting has different ‘sections’ and they all have a different effect on the website. For example the Site Profile is the settings for how people see your site link and information and what language you have your site in. The Site Profile is under the General tab in settings. The General tab has all the settings for the way the site is viewed and found. Weather it is private, public, or hidden from public viewers. The settings are easy to understand and change but the most important thing to remember is to always save your changes once your done.

Themes

Themes are very important to a websites setting. The themes make the site more fun or more business like. They make things look nicer and more eye catching. People should spend the time to customize their theme for their website.

My favorite themes are Karuna, Affinity, and Dara. With these themes, I find it easy to work with them. These themes along one to do basically whatever they want but keeping the original format of the theme.

Categories and Tags

Categories are used for helping people understand a post’s topic and to find other posts within that topic and tags are narrower organizations within the categories. I will use the categories and tags as a way to find the posts easier. But I will also use it to help me organize my posts. The categories I’m currently using is called Word Press Info. Most of my posts will be about word press. Then the tags will be the different things with in the Word Press information.

Different Types of Hyper Links

Home
Contact
The Canine Family
Wolves
Dogs
Foxes
True Foxes
Red Foxes
The Feline Family
Tigers
Leopards
Snow Leopards
Clouded Leopards

The hyperlinks up above are links that take one to another places in my website. These hyperlinks are also know as relative links. What relative links means is that there are links inside a web page that take a person to a different page within the website. Relative links aren’t the only type of hyperlinks. There are also absolute links. Absolute links means that there are links on a web page that takes a person to a completely different website when clicked on. There is a few examples of absolute links down below.

The World of Wolves
Tiger Facts & Information

Pages & Sub-Pages

The pages that I have created are family based pages. For example, The Canine Family has the sub-pages Dogs Wolves, and Foxes. Under the Foxes sub-page there are more sub-pages. they sub pages under Foxes are different type of foxes. It is really simple to use Pages & Sub-Pages. But adding them is a different story and this was a fun thing to experience. You first create your pages and publish them. Then you go to your Customizing tab and then click the Menu tab. You then click Add Pages and you then add the pages you just created. Sub-Pages require an extra step and that is to drag the page you want to create into a sub-page to the right and drop it under the page you want it to be under. Then that’s that.

Images VS Words

Wolf/Peacock Hybrid
Wolf/Peacock Hybrid
Wolf/Peacock Hybrid

The images above are a hybrid of a black wolf and a blue peacock. I like this image because it is a beautiful blend of a wolf and peacock. The blue stands out against the black. The fur and feathers are quite pretty but you wouldn’t know what I’m talking about if that image wasn’t up above. So here comes my next topic. Are images and visuals are one of the primary ways for us to communicate information now? Do we need to take a step back from the text and think more about the visual? I don’t agree at all with the questions up above. Yeah images give us a better understanding of events but looking only at images doesn’t help with a person’s ability to imagine things themselves. When reading words with no pictures, a person has to recreate what they read into an image. Begin able to imagine things on your own makes one creative. When we imagine things, we actually expand our creativity to be able to make images ourselves.  Creativity allows one to make movies, art, music, etc. Images are helpful but they also have a downfall. Their down fall is it limits us to our creativity and imagery. We need to have creativity to get out of situations if we need to but images make it hard to think of something of your own.

Word Press

I will be taking you on a journey.  A journey through my progress and ride through working in word press. I had to first read up on what word press is before I could understand it’s function. The websites that I went to to get an understanding of word press are ithemes and kinsta. They said the word press is a site that allows one to create their own website anywhere there is internet access. The information they provide is useful information because one can learn more knowledge about word press than with what they began with. With word press I can create a website that I can update from anywhere with internet access and that is nice because if I can’t access my website to update it would make it hard because I don’t always have a long time in one place. Compared to Dreamweaver it is easier to use but I like Dreamweaver because you can do more ‘things’ to your website than in word press. For beginners who want to make their own website, I believe that word press would be a good chose because it is easy to use and easy to understand.
